Uff !I can't believe this is the last post and i have to say that i've been waiting for this moment. 

What I think?

I think this activity was very good for the development of written english practice. Without a doubt, there were some publications that I enjoyed very much, as well as there were others in which I had no idea, but I could complete them.

However, this activity meets its objective and allows you to write about differents topics that, maybe, we are experts talking about them in spanish, but in english, the situation is completely different. I liked the blogging experience, because it held me to improve my written skills and improve my vocabulary. Wordreference is a perfect tool for this class. 

Post 9 - Crisis at JGM

Hello everyone!

At this moment i feel very bad, i'm seek, so i don't know if i'm writing as it  should and, maybe, i'm not thinking properly. And i have to say that i didn't vote for this topic, i liked "dinosaurs topic" jajaja

OK. I think that some problems that has this faculty are related with the spaces. On one hand, the students feel bad, because they don't have spaces to share with friends. All places at JGM are made of concrete and the infrastructure are only buildings. Personally, i think we need more "green areas" to make our work day a little better. 

On the other hand, there are some problems related with the students.... Some days ago, the cleaning staff reported bad student practices during parties on Fridays.  The said that they had to clean human poop, gastric juices, a lot of garbage and fix the broken objects from the bathroom, suchs as toilets and sinks. I think this is a crisis at JGM because these practices represent the excesses on friday's parties, and we, as students, don't have to abuse of the cleaning staff.

And there's a lot of other problems at JGM, but i can't remember that at this moment due to my health.

Post 8 - A subject you like studying this semester

This semester, one of the courses that i have enjoyed studying the most, has been Radio I.
In this course, I'm part of the section of the teacher Elizabeth "Ely" Bustos, on mondays, from 09:00 am to 13:30 pm.

I like this course, because is very practical and funny. And i like and apreciate practical courses.

In it, i have learned how to create radio scripts and make informative dispatches.  Also, I learned how to conduct live dispatches and make radio programs.

I think, it's a very interesting journalistic format. Besides, it's diferent, because the last year (and this) i have had a lot of writting coursea .... and this is very different because you have to write and then you interpret the narration in an audible recording.

In the future, i would like to work in a radio. 

Post 7 - A career-related website that you enjoy visiting.

Hi everyone!

Today, I want to talk about one of  my favorite websites that can be very useful in the journalism career: this is the social network Twitter.

In this social network you can "follow" the accounts of multiple public and private institutions, as well as the national and international media. I recommend this website because there is always circulating information, so you can be informed about what is happening in your city and the world at any time. 

Also, it is a good platform to discuss about some "trending topics", which are issues that mark the day and deserve the attention of a lot of people. For example, the speech of some politician or a natural catastrophe are usually trending topics. 

I visit this website every day, because it is very easy to use and I can also check it on my cell phone.

Post 6 - The feminist movement

The feminist movement

Since i was a child, I've always believed that men and women should have the same rights and opportunities. In fact, in the school i made a lot of investigative works that talked about this topic, specifically, the difference between men and women in the job.

I learnt about this movement when i was in the school. My History teacher was very interested  in the movement, so, she talked about it every week. I remember when she was a whole class criticizing a man who said a rude compliment in the street. 

People who believes that exists a reason to say: "men are better than women" or "we have to keep the statu quo", are very wrong. We have to recognize in each gender the same opportunities, because we don't have to discriminate between us and because there isn't a good reason to say that. That encourages a bad coexistence.

I'm a feminist, because i think that men and women should have the same opportunities. And we have to fight to conquer that ideal. 

Post 5 - A photography you like and its story

Hello!

First of all I would like to say that this exercise has been a bit difficult for me, because I have never stopped to think about which photo can be meaningful in my life (at least not frequently).

After looking for old photographic files I found this photo and I think it is one of my favorites.
In it, I appear with my sister, before the start of the PSU.

This photo is important to me, because it reminds me of my school stage. While it has not been "too long" since it was taken, it reminds me the school experience and memories come to mind.

The photo is a selfie and was taken by my sister at the Consolidated College, in Puente Alto.

Post 4 - Favourite movies or series.

Hello everyone!

First of all, i have to say that watch tv series is one of my favourite hobbies, is something i do on my free time.  I have seen a lot of tv series and now, i would like to tell you some of them. 

My favourite tv series are about action, science fiction and war. I remember that "Under the Dome" was the first serie i saw, which is based on the novel of Stephen King with the same name.

I think that i have to see it again, because i don't remember the last episode i saw (jeje). 

Also I have seen: "Lost", "Breaking Bad", "Homeland", "The walking Dead", "Game of Thrones", "Intelligence", " The Simpsons", "CSI", "Hawai Five-0" and many more, but, at this moment, I can't remember them.     

Now, i'm watching "24" with my grandfather and we talk about the episodes and the adventures of the protagonist. He loves action series too!. We have seen until the third season.

Ok, that's all! 

Now, i hope to go home soon, because i don't have homework for this week, so i want to see the serie and start the fourth season to talk about it with my grandfather. 

  

My favourite piece of technology

Hello!

First of all, I have to say that this piece of technology has been my favourite since i was a child. I'm talking about the computer, but, nowadays, is the laptop. (to me, they are the same thing).

The laptop (or the computer) is a machine that gives you the opportunity to use multiple functions, such as surf the internet, listening music, write documents, play video game, and others.

When I was a child, I used the computer to play video games, specifically, games of "Nintendo" and "Sega". I remember it was an old computer with windows 98 (very, very old). I did'n even know how to surf the internet, because in those years I had no internet connection; and when you tried to connect you sounded a rather strange music from the modem. 

But, when i grew up, i discovered that the computer has a lot of functions. In the school, i usually used it to write my homeworks and investigation works. Also, I use the computer to listening music and surf the internet, which brings you the possibility to access a lot of contents (national and international content) and services like email and virtual maps.

Nowadays, I always make my homeworks on the computer, because I can write the documents on Microsoft Word and that gives me more space in my room. I mean, I don't have to accumulate a lot of papers on my desk. Also, I use the computer to surf the internet and to watch movies and TV series.

I really get bored when I don't use the computer, but i can do other things to get funny such as gardering and play the guitar. 

Why did i choose this career?

To be honest, when I was in high school I didn't know what to study. However, my preferences, in general, were associated with the humanist area, such as pedagogy and journalism. 

On the one hand, I had always liked to teach and help the training of people who did not have the same opportunities as me. In that sense, I volunteered for four years in a vulnerable school in my city, where I helped students in the area of mathematics. But, on the other hand, I always liked speaking and writing, so journalism turned up a viable option. 

Maybe I chose this career because it gives me more freedom than pedagogy. I mean, you don't have to stay 8 or more hours in a classroom and stay with disobedient children or teenager (I have the experience of my father, he has been a History teacher for thirty years). 

In journalism you can take photos, make videos, report on all sides, ask about anything, etc. So i think that called my attention.

My experience at the university until now has been very good. I realized, I like this career and I want to finish it. When I graduated, I would like to work in the radio or in writing journalism, but not in media. I prefer a job in a public institution. 

My autobiography

Hello!

My name is Juan Francisco Valenzuela Embry. I was born on September 6th 1997, in the city of Santiago,  at the Clinical Hospital of the Catholic University of Chile.

My parents name are Sergio Valenzuela and Pilar Embry.  He is 55 years old and is a Geography and History teacher, but now he is working as assistant director of a school in San Bernardo.  On the other hand, my mother is fifty years old and she's a teacher too. She teaches Arts in the city hall of Puente Alto. Maybe that's where my humanist side came from. 

I also have a twin sister. Her name is Maria Fernanda and we have the same age. She's studying too, but in the Catholic University of Chile.  

I live in Puente Alto and i studied in the Altazor school, because is near my house and it's a good school. In that school I attended my primary and secondary education. I was there for twelve years and now I'm studying the second year of journalism at the University of Chile.

Some things about me.....  On my free time, i like to play the guitar and listening music and also i like to play with my two dogs and ride a bike. On saturdays, i go with my father to the market and i help him to garder the yard. 

  

Nowadays, I'm a firefighter since a year in Puente Alto and i'm volunteer for the Censo 2017. I live with my parents and sister and i'm very happy.

The last time i did something new

Two weeks ago I ate sushi for the first time and I have to say that I hate it. I realized I don’t like sushi. All my friends said: “sushi is the best food in the world” and things like that and I don’t know why. I have two options to explain that: The first one, they are very crazy, because sushi is not the best food in the world, and the second one, I’m very crazy, because i can't feel the same things. However, now I can say that I ate sushi.... and I don’t  want to eat that again.

The flavour .... it was very strange and the piece of sushi was very cold.

I think the best food in the world is pasta with tomato sauce or ravioli.... I like it!

No, it was very terrible and i would never do it again.

Expectations for English III

¿What are my expectations for English III?

First of all, i have to say that this is my first English class in two years, because i had my last course when i was in fourth grade, so i forget a lot of things.

I expect from this course to increase my listening abilities, because i think it's too hard listening people when they are speaking english, specially, when they speak fast and quietly.

Also, i hope to increase my pronunciation and vocabulary. I don't believe that is bad, but i think it can get better. 

Finally, I also want to do a lot of activities, specially, the kind of activities i described in the paragraphs.
